Houghton International, an electro mechanical engineering specialist, has secured a three-year motor maintenance and repair contract at Lynemouth Power Limited in Northumberland following a recent expansion.
Houghton International will be responsible for the ongoing repair and maintenance of all motors, generators and all electrical rotating equipment during the initial conversion and the ongoing operations of the site, as a result of a successful tender submission.
While currently being converted to biomass, after completion Lynemouth Power Limited will generate 420MW of clean, renewable energy – enough to power 450,000 homes.
Recently, Houghton International has opened a large machine repair shop, whilst investing £300K in plant and machinery over the past year in order to improve performance and keep up with rising demands. Within this, the business has installed new condition-monitoring equipment, winding kit and energy-efficient ovens to continue to improve the range of services it offers.
Based on specialisms in the repair, maintenance and life extension of rotating electrical machines, Houghton International offers a broad range of services in sectors that include power generation, renewables, industrial, oil & gas, marine and rail.
Over the last 30 years, Houghton International has expanded into a multi-million pound, multinational business, and was founded in 1984. From originally serving one customer, to working with 200 customers globally, the business aims to further its current success.
