5 Benefits for Students Appearing for JEE Main 2019 Conducted by NTA

Union MHRD minister Prakash Javedekar has announced that JEE Main will be conducted by a newly formed National Testing Agency (NTA). Previously, JEE Main was conducted by the Central board of secondary education (CBSE) once a year, however as proposed, NTA will be conducting it twice a year.

The Government has confirmed the formation of NTA and it will also be conducting other national level entrance exams apart from JEE Main. Among all other exams which will be conducted by NTA, two national level competitive exams, JEE Main and NEET will be conducted twice in a year.

The NTA will be organizing JEE Main exam twice a year which will give candidates more opportunities to secure better ranks. The candidates who will be appearing for JEE Main 2019 will be allowed to use one of the best scores from the two exams in counselling process.

JEE Main exam is conducted for admissions to B.E/B.Tech. and B.Arch. courses in top engineering colleges of the country. JEE Main 2019 will be conducted in the months of January 2019 and April 2019 respectively. Let’s discuss, what exactly is NTA, and how it will be beneficial for the JEE main 2019 aspirants. The benefits for JEE Main aspirants for NTA have been mentioned below for your reference.

More Secure Exam

The NTA will use highly secured IT software and encryptions to ensure the security of the test. This will also make sure that there are no leakages and malpractices in the exam.  The NTA will ensure that JEE Main is at par with international norms. There would be more student friendly, open, scientific and a leak-proof system, the minister told.

More Opportunities

JEE main exam will be conducted online twice in a year- January and April. Candidates will be able to appear for any one or both the exams. Candidates who will appear for both the exams, admission will be based on best marks out of the two.

This will give more opportunities to the candidates to score their best as they can use the best score from the two attempts during the counselling process. This model would also help students to pace their studies without wasting a whole year. Even if a candidate misses to appear in the exam once due to some unforeseen reason, they can appear for it in the next schedule.

Training

NTA will also provide a facility to take practice test by visiting the training centres from August or September 2018. Candidates from rural background will have the option of going to computer centres setup by NTA to practice for the computer-based exam. Notably, there will be no change in syllabus, exam pattern, and medium of the question paper.

More Transparency

NTA is an autonomous body so there will be transparency in the exam. It is going to improve adequately as JEE main exam will be conducted in online mode only to increase transparency. Its working will also make it student-friendly and transparent, as the entrance paper will be set by a group of domain experts, and other professionals.

Multiple Dates

JEE Main exam will have multiple dates so the students will have options to choose schedules according to their preference.  The exam will be conducted in 8 different shifts and candidates will have to choose from these different schedules as per their convenience.

There are also some cons as well about the NTA conducting the JEE Main. For example, there will be some difficulty in the level of the examination. Candidates will need to put more efforts in order to get a good score as there are two chances. The merit and cut-off are also expected to rise because of the question paper being set by a group of scholars and other professionals.

What is NTA?

NTA is an autonomous and self-sustained testing agency which is registered under societies of Registration Act, 1960. NTA will be conducting entrance examinations for higher educational institutions and will not have any other responsibility of the exam.

NTA will be conducting exams in online mode only. For this, it will locate its centres at district levels across the country to conduct hands-on training exercise for the students of rural background. Initially, NTA will be conducting 5 exams namely JEE main, NEET, CMAT, GPAT and UGC NET.
