Recruitment Alert: ONGC Recruiting through GATE 2019

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, i.e. ONGC, has rolled out an advertisement announcing that it will be recruiting candidates as Class 1 Executives (at E-1 level) in the Engineering and Geo-Sciences disciplines through GATE 2019. This advertisement comes as delightful news for GATE aspirants as ONGC is India’s flagship oil exploration company and offers one of the best CTCs in PSUs, along with giving ample opportunities for career advancement.

Talking about the CTC, the selected candidates will be given a pay scale of around INR 60000 to INR 180000 per month. ONGC Recruitment: Selection Process

The selection process of ONGC Recruitment through GATE 2019 begins with candidates appearing for the test. The desirous candidates will have to appear for a specific discipline in GATE 2019, respective to the post they are looking to apply.

Further, the candidates who appear for GATE 2019 and have applied for ONGC Recruitment through GATE will be considered as per their application details. The topmost candidates amongst these will be called for the Personal Interview round. Those, who clear the PI round, will be offered employment at ONGC.

ONGC Recruitment through GATE 2019: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates looking to apply for ONGC Recruitment through GATE 2019 have to fulfill the eligibility points laid down by ONGC in the advertisement. There are basically two things that candidates need to take care of, first is the age-related criterion, and the second is degree specialization as per the job they are applying for.

Age Criterion

Let us take a look at the age criterion first. ONGC has set separate limits for Drilling/Cementing jobs and for all other jobs. Unreserved candidates can have a maximum age of 28 years for Drilling/Cementing jobs, and 30 years for all other jobs, as of 1st January 2019. This limit for OBC Candidates is 31 and 33 years and for SC/ST candidates is 33 years and 35 years, for Drilling/Cementing jobs and for all other jobs respectively.

Persons with any disability can apply for non-Drilling/Cementing jobs only, up to the age of 40. The limit for ex-servicemen is 33 years for drilling/cementing jobs and 35 for all other. The existing employees of ONGC will be given age relaxation as per their tenure of service in the organization.

Educational Qualification Criterion

Candidates also have to fulfill the education criterion to apply for ONGC Recruitment. At a minimum, the candidate must have completed a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent, with 60% marks at least. However, ONGC has clearly mentioned that specialization in bachelor’s degree is accepted for a particular job.

For instance, to be eligible for the post of AEE (Cementing) – Mechanical, a candidate must have done Mechanical Engineering with 60% marks and the candidate must appear for ‘ME’ subject in GATE 2019. Similarly, a full-fledged list is available for all the jobs, for which candidates can refer to the official advertisement.

Further, the candidates must understand that equivalent qualifications like AMIE (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) are not accepted. Candidates, who have pursued their graduation through distance learning mode, are eligible only if such a degree is attained from a recognized institute or university. Further, candidates who are in the final year of their graduation can also apply, provided that they have to submit all the necessary documents by July 2019.
