Agera Energy and Environmental Sustainability

Agera Energy and Environmental Sustainability

Agera Energy provides electricity and natural gas in the United States and is headquartered in the state of New York. Its offices are in Briarcliff Manor. Agera works to reduce the business’s environmental impact by being as eco-friendly as possible. Its employees even apply these eco-friendly practices to their everyday lives.

The company wants to ensure that future descendants will still be able to experience a clean environment. Agera is one of the leaders in economic sustainability among energy suppliers.

The company became a Certified Westchester Green Business in 2016 after completing the Westchester Green Business Challenge. While also environmentally sustainable, the company provides energy to small and large businesses as well as residences. The business prides itself on the ability to provide first-class customer service.

Agera Energy has worked to reduce its energy consumption by installing LED lighting through its headquarters. The company’s footprint decreased by 422 tons of carbon dioxide. This amount of carbon dioxide equals the amount that powers 76 residences.

The newly installed lights are even turned off in rooms that are not in use. This helps the company save even more energy!

In addition to the lighting, the headquarters is also outfitted with film coverings that help maintain the indoor climate. The offices are known for their warmth during a hot sunny day. These film coverings help decrease solar heat on Agera Energy’s windows that are facing South.

Agera Energy’s refrigerators are designed to run only at temperatures to save the most energy possible. There are thermostats installed in each refrigerator to maintain this energy-saving measure.

Prior to the Westchester Green Business Challenge, the company only had regular trash cans. However, things have changed. Nowadays, each room is outfitted with a recycling bin as well as a trash can. Instead of being thrown away, glass containers, paper, and other recyclables are being saved.

In addition to recycling, Agera Energy has reduced its paper consumption by opting out of spam and junk mail lists. Unfortunately, not all trash is recyclable. Employees are also given the knowledge to educate employees as to how to appropriately recycle the right materials. There are also signs around the company’s building direct its employees on what to do.

Sometimes, deciding whether to throw something in trash or recycling isn’t quite that easy. If something isn’t recyclable, that doesn’t lead to it being placed in the trash. There are many hazardous and electronic waste materials that require a different method of disposal. The company utilizes the services of Veolia North America to install an e-waste container to collect and properly dispose of unused electronic materials.

Each employee was also given a reusable BPA-free bottle to help reduce bottled water consumption.

Additionally, Agera has installed a water filtration system that allows its employees to refill their bottles at work. Thousands of plastic bottles are being saved in the process. To further save water, employees are instructed on how they should fully turn off water faucets whenever they’re not being used.

Employees are also instructed to report any drips or leaks they find immediately.
