What Is Coding and Programming?

What Is Coding and Programming?

Recent figures show that a software developer can achieve a salary of $101,790.

If you’re looking for a pay raise, you may want to learn software development. But to be a software developer, you first need to learn about coding and programming.

Now those terms can sound daunting if you don’t have much experience with IT. But, you’ll be happy to know that these terms aren’t as scary as they seem

Read on to learn more about coding and programming. By the time you finish this post, you should be able to answer the question ‘what is coding and programming?’.

Let’s begin!

What Is Coding and Programming?

Well, the first thing we need to get out of the way is that coding and programming essentially refer to the same thing. It’s because of this that you’ll tend to see a lot of people use the term interchangeably.

Both of these terms essentially describe the process you go through when creating instructions for a computer. This is a crucial point since all software is just a collection of instructions.

The Different Languages

There are many different ‘languages’ that you can use for coding.

One of the reasons for this is that needs change over time. So, if there’s a new form of hardware, like an iPhone for example, then it’ll probably have its own language.

Multiple programming languages also exist because different languages are suited to different tasks

Python, for instance, is something that works well for machine learning projects. JavaScript, on the other hand, is better for frontend web development.

Learning About Coding and Programming

As mentioned, each programming language has its own particular use, so you need to decide what you want to achieve ahead of time. If you can do this, you’ll then know which programming language you need to learn.

You can teach yourself by purchasing a course of Udemy or Pluralsight. Most of these courses are under $100 and will teach you everything you need to know about a particular language.

That said, you might not like the idea of learning in isolation. If that’s the case, you should think about attending a coding bootcamp.

Such bootcamps are like intensive courses that give you the chance to learn from people with experience.

It’s worth mentioning that bootcamps will run all day for many weeks. Thus before attending one, you may need to save up some money and quit your job. Being able to program, you can apply for a job at Sii Sverige.

Time to Write Some Software?

At this point, you should be able to answer the question ‘what is coding and programming?’.

If you don’t know much about IT, then it’ll probably take some time for you to learn how to code. That’s perfectly normal, though, as coding can be a difficult thing to understand.

What matters most is that you push through whenever you get stuck. If you can keep doing this, then you should eventually be able to land a high paying software development role.
