Blackjack is a deceptively simple game. It’s a lot of fun, and there is, as with every casino game, a big element of chance associated with each round, but even so, it is important to know some useful tips to ensure that your game playing time is as fun as it can be. But before that, one must have a concrete knowledge on how to play blackjack.
Have A Strategy
It’s a good rule for life to have a strategy for every situation. That way, you won’t ever wonder ‘what if?’ and you’ll be a lot more comfortable doing what you’re doing as you do it. The same rule is true in blackjack. Having a strategy that you’re happy with means that you barely have to think when the cards start being pulled, and you’ll always be pleased with your gameplay, even if the outcomes don’t always come good.
Some ideas to help you include:
- Stick when the dealer has 2 to 6 and you have 12 to 16
- Hit when the dealer has 7 to Ace and you have 12 to 16
- Hit when you have Aces to six
- Split Aces and 8s
There are other rules you can implement, but these will start you off on the right track.
Start Small
Of course, it’s your money and you can do what you like with it, but it’s a good rule of thumb to take things easy when you first arrive at a table. You need to take some time to gauge the situation and to see how the dealer is working. When you have determined this, you can choose to place larger bets, stick with smaller ones, or leave the table altogether. If you go straight in and lay all your money down then you may not have a chance to see what’s happening at all.
Don’t Worry About Other Players
Whether you are playing at a table with others or you’re the only one there, it makes no difference. What other players are choosing to do – or not do – won’t have an impact on your hand and what you choose to do. Really, when it comes to blackjack, it’s just you and the dealer no matter how many other people are around you.
The problem is that players can become distracted by the others around them, and whether those other players win or lose can have a direct impact on what you say or do next. It shouldn’t. Let them play their game and you play yours.
Set A Limit
One of the most important tips for any gambler when it comes to blackjack is to set a limit. If you don’t it’s incredibly easy to get carried away and you can lose a lot of money in a very short amount of time. Even if you want to look like a high roller and you want some rewards from the casino (assuming you’re playing in a physical casino, of course), it’s just not worth risking a lot of money all at once.
Set a limit and bet small and you’ll have a lot more fun. You’ll also get a lot more practice in and see how things are going. When you come to the table the next time, you might be confident enough to bet a little larger. However, a limit is still going to be important.
