Understanding Woke Bingo

Bingo

If you feel that bingo is simply bingo and there are no variants in that, get ready to be taught something totally new! Woke Bingo is actually a fresh concept that many people will like and some will absolutely hate! But since it’s not replacing the conventional bingo game, everybody will be able to play the game they like the best.

After internet bingo arrived it changed everything. It caused a buzz of excitement, and some people started coming away from the traditional bingo halls in order to play online. The halls started to close, and there are hardly any left today. So although online bingo is great, it did cause quite an upset to the standard bingo industry. This is not the case with woke bingo. Woke bingo is something new, yes, but it’s not going to make bingo any less popular, or cause online bingo to fail. Let’s look more closely at what some would call a strange idea or spend time to play bingo with a £10 deposit.

What Is Woke Bingo?

‘Woke’ is actually a brand new term that you may start to hear more often in daily life.  It refers to people who might have been a little ‘non-PC’ (albeit usually accidentally) but who are now ‘waking up’ to how the world needs to be and changing the way they think, act, and talk. They are essentially attempting to change themselves to make the world a better place. Admirable, perhaps, but what has this got to do with bingo?

Well it all boils down to the bingo calls which are actually shouted out when a ball is drawn. Several of these, despite having been utilized for decades, and despite being incredibly popular, are actually beginning to be viewed as offensive. Thus in Woke Bingo the bingo calls are now being modified. Eighty-eight, for instance, that would have been ‘two fat ladies’ is currently the less controversial (and, some would declare, much less amusing ) ‘Wills and Kate’. It rhymes, but whereas you can imagine two fat ladies looking like the number 88, Wills and Kate is much less descriptive.

Why The Changes?

The latest calls came about via a bit of fun that took on a life of its own. An online bingo website made the decision to ask its clients if they enjoyed the concept of having several brand new calls, and what all those calls may be. The responses where provided via chatrooms, and because many more much younger players are signing up for these online bingo websites, and these are the people that might seem be the most ‘woke’, the changes tended to come from them.

Some of the new calls include:

7 = Flexitarian

9 = Get an Uber from mine

14 = Netflix and chill

25 = Quarter life crisis

35 = It’s a vibe

38 = Avocado on a plate

39 = Love Island time

48 = Not another Brexit debate

49 = Amazon Prime

54 = Lads on tour

68 = Tinder date

74 = Recycle more

78 = Haters gon’ hate

86 = Instagram pics

88 = Wills and Kate
