Space Dividing Tips To Boost Productivity

Space Dividing Tips To Boost Productivity

Whether you’re living, learning, working, or playing, having a dedicated space for these activities is beneficial to the productivity of everyone involved. There are several benefits for businesses for separating spaces so that workers have defined areas for breaks, working, training, or other activities.

Businesses aren’t the only ones that can benefit though. We see divisions of space in schools and at home as well. There are a number of ways to make space dividers that won’t cost a lot of money but will help with productivity. We’ve created this post to help share some ideas of how to divide your own space for whatever your needs may be.

Put in a Literal Partition Wall

If dividing your space for you means putting up a physical divider, then installing a partition wall is a relatively inexpensive way to get the physical separation you need without a major renovation.

Partition walls can be virtually any size and fit in any space. This makes them great for not just homes, but businesses with open area offices. Many businesses prefer a freeflow form of working and a partition wall is a great way to get a mix of both freedom and separation.

Screens are also another option that has gained popularity due to recent health-related events. In fact, screens allow for a transparent barrier that separates spaces while still allowing clear sightlines. This is an excellent solution for business managers that still want to keep tabs on employees in different areas.

Makeshift Dividers

Another option if you’re not in the mood for an actual wall, is to creatively use furniture or plants to divide a space. Large groupings of plants or even furniture pieces like bookshelves, entertainment centers, or a large sofa can do the trick for separating a space into parts that can be divided for different uses.

We see this often with homes where an island is used to separate a living area from the kitchen. In the same sense, you can use different elements that already exist to divide a space without resulting to a more permanent solution.

Color Code Different Areas

This is likely the simplest idea. You can use colors to designate different spaces. Of course, it will be up to you to decide what each different colored space is for, but this is an easy way to make different parts of a large room, office space, or other area divided.

Paint is an excellent option as it is cheap and easy to apply to walls and surfaces. If painting isn’t in your wheelhouse, then you can use things like rugs and carpeting to denote separate areas. Not only is this a more stylish choice, but it gives you the most freedom to change spaces around or make different spaces for different uses.

Tape, Signs, and Markings

Our last option is a bit more DIY than the other options in this post. You can literally tape off an area of the floor or place an easily hangable sign over an area to designate it as a particular space.

You could even design your own markings that designate what an area is being used for at a particular time. If you prefer your own style, then this is the way to insert your personality into your room divisions.

Final Thoughts

That’s it. We hope you’ve enjoyed this post about how dividing up space can boost productivity and the creative and functional ways to do so.
