The vast majority of people here in Australia certainly do talk the talk but many fail to walk the walk. What is meant here is that people talk about wanting to reduce their overall carbon footprint and yet they do very little in order to make that happen. Simply liking something on a popular social media website is not good enough and so we need to start practising lifestyle changes to make the planet that we live on much cleaner and in order for that to happen, we really do need to start putting things into place rather than just talking about them.
For example, there are many couples out there who want to get themselves onto the property ladder and want to build their own homes and yet they fail to hire sustainable, green architects in Australia. Many people are not aware of this fact but there are architects out there who do take their responsibilities very seriously indeed when it comes to Mother Nature and they design buildings with the environment in mind at all times. If you want to start making a difference then this is one of the first things that you should be doing and the following are just some more that will help to reduce your carbon footprint.
- Embrace solar energy – We do get lots of sunshine here in Australia all year round and so it makes perfect sense that we would want to take advantage of all of this free energy. Solar power is become incredibly popular over the past 5 to 10 years and so this has driven down the price of installing it in your home or business to the point that there is no excuse for not installing it in your building.
- Switch things off – We have a nasty habit here in Australia of leaving things plugged in when we are not using them and although you think that they are not using any power, they are using some and if you multiply that by the many millions of people who are doing the exact same thing then that is a significant amount of energy that is being wasted and it’s making the Earth warmer.
These are two things that you can incorporate into your new build home after you engage with your local green architect. It’s all about making small changes today to provide big changes for our kids tomorrow.
