Pergola Seating: 7 Ideas for Your Budget

pergola

If you set up a pergola in your backyard, you should be able to use it for all kinds of things. You can have parties or simply sit back and relax with your favorite novel. You might take a nap while enjoying your pergola.

You can get yourself a 12 x 12 pergola kit for yard setups of all kinds, and there are ones available that won’t break the bank. You should also think about what type of seating arrangement you want with your pergola, though. Let’s run through a few suggestions.

Plastic Molded Chairs

There are all kinds of chairs and other options for pergola seating. What can you do if you’ve spent most of your money on the pergola itself, though, and you have very little left over?

You might go with plastic molded chairs. You can usually find some at Walmart or Target. They’re not the most comfortable, but they’re one of the most affordable options.

A Hammock

Setting up a hammock beneath your pergola is another way to go. Many people find hammocks comfortable. This choice is not the most conducive to having a bunch of guests over, though.

Some Couches

You might buy some couches and set them up beneath your pergola’s canopy in a similar way that you would with a living room or den. The key to this choice is getting couches made up of material that will stand up to outdoor use. You can always buy protective covers for your outdoor sofas when you’re not using them, as well.

A Dining Room Table and Chairs

You might buy a dining room table and set it up underneath your pergola, along with some chairs that match it. Those chairs will likely be made of wood. If you’re able to attach a pergola’s canopy directly to the side of your house, this becomes a viable option.

A Swing Chair

You can also buy a swing-style chair that’s capable of holding two people or more. Most of them are designed for one or two individuals, but you can get larger ones that will comfortably fit three if you’d like.

These chairs are nice for sitting or lying on along with your partner or spouse. You can add some blankets to make for a cozier experience, especially when you’re getting close to the winter season.

Love Seats

Love seats are similar to couches but smaller. There’s no reason why you can’t get some for your pergola if you have room for them.

If you have a smaller pergola that won’t accommodate full-size couches under it, love seats might be a reasonable compromise. You can often get a discount on them if you buy more than one at the same time.

Adirondack Chairs

The Adirondack-style outdoor chair is another can’t-miss option that goes well with pergolas. Since they’re usually made of wood, they give off the appearance of being made just for backyard use.

Any of these options is sure to work well with your pergola purchase.
