4 Projects To Improve Your Space

At home or at the office, simple touches can go a long way in the areas of improvement. Throughout the country, at-home quarantine due to Covid-19 brought the opportunity for endless DIY projects. Being forced to stare at the imperfections of one’s own home created the urge to immediately fix them; supplies literally ran out. While amateurs should leave things like roof replacement service to the professionals, there are still plenty of projects left to improve your space.

Paint…Everything

Painting a room a new color can make it an entirely different experience. A new coat of paint can cover up imperfections and bring an unmatched sense of freshness to a bedroom or office. Rooms are all well and good but don’t forget what else could use a little spruce. Old brick fireplaces look great with white or gray paint. Painting the front door can completely transform the outside of your home, but be sure to Google it first, there’s a special sequence for best results. While removing hardware and painting cabinets is its own form of torture, it really makes a difference in the kitchen space. Finally, don’t forget about that unfinished basement floor. With a primer, epoxy paint, and sealant, it will look a lot less…unfinished.

Coffee Bar

For most people, a simple coffee pot and a few mugs are more than enough to suffice, but for those that worship the caffeinated nectar, a shrine must be built. A coffee bar is really just any surface or area dedicated to all things coffee and can be great at the office or at home. Creamers, the french press, espresso, and syrup all must have space and storage. Two cabinets and a butcher block countertop from IKEA will do just the trick. If you really want to get fancy, add a hanging shelf with hooks for mugs. It’s a huge space saver!

Don’t Ignore the Outdoors

Finally, don’t forget about your outside space. It was once the only place we could enjoy freely without a mask and deserves some attention. Even without a patio or deck, you can use planters, 4×4 lumber, and a string of twinkle lights to create the perfect ambiance for sitting around the firepit. Once the concrete sets, fill the planters with soil and flowers to bring it all together.

Home improvement can be expensive and daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Simple projects can improve space at home or at the office without breaking the bank or causing you to go insane.
